NOTES

Hot Walleye Bite and Active Bass Keep Rods Bending Near Monroe

Lake Erie Historical Marker (historical) - Monroe, MI

Anglers out of Monroe are seeing great action this week, especially for walleye, with solid catches coming from both nearshore and deeper waters.

🎣 Walleye Walleye fishing has been excellent in 20–24 feet of water, especially east of Sterling State Park and near the power plant. Trolling with crawler harnesses is producing consistent results—chartreuse colors are working best. Speeds around 1.6 mph are ideal, and anglers are adjusting lead lengths between 40–60 feet to match water clarity.

Some are also having success using Bandits and small spoons in green and white or green and pink patterns. Fish are averaging 3–5 pounds.

🐟 Other Species Bass: Largemouth and smallmouth bass are hitting nearshore, particularly around Bolles Harbor Channel. Soft plastics and crankbaits are the go-to.

Perch: Yellow perch are being caught, though the size is still on the smaller side. Worms are working well for those targeting them closer to bottom structure.

🌤️ Weather Outlook Cooler temps are rolling in this weekend, with highs in the mid-60s and breezy conditions. Saturday may bring a mix of clouds and sun, while Sunday looks clearer—ideal for getting back on the water.

✅ Quick Tips Fish 17–24 feet deep for the best walleye activity.

Try chartreuse harnesses and vary lead lengths to find the sweet spot.

Bass are shallow—work those plastics around structures.

Monitor the wind—it’s been stirring up sediment and changing fish behavior.

This weekend looks promising—load up your gear, keep an eye on your sonar, and enjoy the action on Lake Erie!
